Introducing Charlotte and Nathan...

We just got home from a wonderful night out with our nephew Nathan and our brand new niece Charlotte.  They are visiting from Colorado, and we have had such a fun time with them.  There are so many good photos from this evening's shoot I just can't decide!  Nathan was so good at making his little sister smile!  Here are a few sneak peeks!!

1000 Visits!!

I don't know when it happened, but it must have been over the weekend. I have this nifty program that tells me how many people read the blog each day, and it just passed 1,000 visits since the beginning of the blog 2 months ago!  I am so excited to know that people are interested in what I am up to.  Thank you for coming to see me online and being a part of my adventure.  Also, the comment section has been unlocked! You used to only be able to leave comments if you were a member.  But, now anyone can!  So, feel free to say hi and let me know your thoughts!   For now I will leave you with this...

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

As you can see, mine has started off fantastic!  I had so much fun playing with my 2 nieces yesterday.  If you have been watching this blog, you will notice that they pop up a bit.  They are just so wonderful and I was so happy to get to run around with them.  And, they are here all weekend!  I photographed them in the morning, and around lunchtime Bella told me she needed to have a Dora camera.  So, at the end of our playdate their grandmother was preparing to take a very nice picture of the 3 of us, and Bella stated that it was her camera and she got to decide how we posed...so, we skipped in circles!  Can't wait to see that one!  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with their family and friends!

The Maggie Collage

Maggie is really good at singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." She had such great facial expressions!  You can click on the photo to see it larger.

Jimmy, Maggie, and Mommy

What an adorable family!  We had a fun shoot today to get some great shots for Father's Day. Little Jimmy laid still just enough to get these great close-ups of his face.  And his big sister, Maggie, was a bundle of energy!  We blew bubbles, had a tea party, picked flowers and grass and chased balloons.  I have a collage of images taken while singing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" so stay tuned!  I love the shot of the two little ones with Mommy on the stairs. When I first arrived Maggie was crawling from between her mom's legs then through my legs and back to Mom's, so her positioning is just perfect!

Bella and Lola are coming to town...

I just heard my two favorite people are coming to Indy for Memorial Day!  They used to be a bike ride away which we miss very much now that it is Spring.  But, it is fun when we get to go and visit them in Boston.  These are 2 shots from when we met them in Martha's Vineyard for Thanksgiving last year.  We are headed there again this July!

New Postcards...and pets

I wanted to share my new postcards with everyone!  I am so excited to have them completed. My friend Chris did such a good job putting the cards together, and I just dropped in the photos.  I really love how they turned out!  Frankie, Soren and Jovie are perfect examples of the type of work I do.  Since the cards have been out, I have started to have a lot of requests for portraits of pets.  It is definately something I am interested in, and have had fun with so far. Here are a few shots I have caught on a shoot...as well as my own cats!

And, a few more...

Ali & Michael, Jekyll Island

The above image is one of my favorites from the wedding weekend. Without seeing it, you can almost feel the smile on the mother of the groom as she looks on at her three boys.  The weather held off till Sunday, the sun was shining, the band was playing and love was in the air. We had such a wonderful weekend with Ali and Michael's friends and family.  Here are a few more favorites from the wedding...

Quick Post...

We are in Jekyll Island, Georgia for a friend's wedding this weekend.  It is absolutely beautiful. I brought my camera and am excited to get some wedding shots!  I have a wedding next Saturday in the Indianapolis Butterfly Garden...how beautiful will that be!  So, stay tuned! Here is a shot of Halle I found when I was editing that didn't make the blog before.  I just love those eyes!  Her mom had this great headband, and I just found a few at Orchard in Bloom to add to my collection!  Have a great weekend!

A San Francisco Playdate...

I love capturing the look of a child that can bring you right back to that moment in time...from the sand on the toes to the falling out pigtails. Bella was born in San Francisco while I was in graduate school.  These pictures take me right back there...in the color photo you can almost feel the infamous SF Fog!

To the Days of Film!

I was cleaning out my office yesterday, and came across a cd of portraits from my graduate program.  They make me smile just looking at them.  These were taken back in the day of film, using a large old camera where I actually got underneath a black sheet to take the images.  I just think photography is the greatest thing!  I can still hear my cousin laughing from the top of her tree!  Film made you be patient, and pushed you to pay close attention to detail.  Now that I used digital almost all the time, I still allow for the true essence of film to come through.  It is hard to believe that some photographers will never know what it is like to be in a darkroom for hours!  It was my home away from home and a place where I felt so at ease.  My computer is now my darkroom,  and we are learning to love each other.  Here's to the days of film!
