Portrait: The Peterson Family

Look at these guys!  Big brother "G" is so proud!  We had a typical hot Indiana summer night, so of course we had to keep cool in the neighborhood fountain.  I had a ball with the whole family, and they were such troopers.  I am still editing, but here are a few of my favorites of the boys...

For Fun: Soulographer

I am so far behind, I don't quite know where to begin.  So, I'll start with what is most on my mind.  I had the absolute pleasure of participating in the Creative Mentoring workshop this past weekend presented by the fabulous Skye Hardwick of Work of Heart Photography.  It was three days of talking photography, looking at images, sharing ideas and so much more!  I found it truly inspiring.  Skye is an icon in Child Portraiture, and I loved seeing her in action and how she approaches all things involved.  We had an incredible shoot with many little ones out in Brownsburg, and I can't wait to share those images later!

I think the best part for me was getting to know 3 fabulous ladies over the course of the weekend.  We clicked instantly, and are hoping to create our own photo retreat together in the near future!  Here is Danielle of Danielle Marie Photography located here in Indy.  We have plans of location scouting together soon!

And, Carrie Scruggs of Carrie Scruggs Photography in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Althought she is in NC, she is originally from Indy where her parents still reside and we hope to see her again very soon!

And, finally, Lyndsay Lewis from Fort Collins, Co.  We are hoping our photo retreat will take us out her way!

It is so great to have other photographers to go to for help, support and inspiration!  I can't wait to see where this takes us!  Stay tuned for images from the weekend shoots!

For Fun: Etsy

What is Etsy? Only one of my favorite places in the world! A fun and addictive place to buy and sell some of the coolest handmade treasures you will ever find. You can definately get lost in Etsy! Here is a link to Arfeiniel, a children's photographer turned designer, who makes some great "portrait-worthy" outfits! Here's one of her pics too. Check it out! And, I will continue to share some of the magical things I come across...

P.S. to Incredibly cool mats!

I forgot to include this before.  This is what I am talking about!!!!  How fun!  If you are interested in giving it a shot, just shoot me an email!

P.S. These are just samples in the collage, not Sara Morris Photography images.

Incredibly cool mats!!!!

Picture an entire wall collage of different sized images using these fun mat designs!  I am just waiting for the perfect client to contact me for this.  I want to do it in our house, but we are already lacking in open wall space.  I can't stand it!  I have more designs as well, I just couldn't wait to post the examples.  Black and white images, fun mats and simple black frames...incredibly cool!

Portrait: Ashlyn, Kendall and Will

We are back from our Summer vacation, and slowly catching up with things.  This shoot is from our week up at Crystal Lake over the 4th.  You may recognize these three from one of the first shoots on the blog.  The sun and wind gave us a run for our money, but we didn't let it get the best of us!  They were real troopers and we ended up getting some terrific shots!  I love this first one...you get a real feel for northern Michigan!  And, this is just a preview...

Event: Wilson's Picnic

Our time in Michigan is quickly coming to an end, and we are so sad! One more day in the water...but, we have had a fabulous 4th of July as always, and kicked it all off with the annual Wilson's Picnic.  I am still editing the photos, but here are a few of my favorite shots!  You can click on the images to see them bigger...

P.S. I will be working on all of the images from the picnic over the next week, and will post all proofs on my website.  Please email me at saramorrisphoto@gmail.com to be put on the list to receive the link to the proofs!

Portrait: Bryson

One more post before I sign off for the holiday weekend.  I had the wonderful opportunity of spending time with the fabulous Jessica Limeberry of Lemongrass Photography this morning and her cute as can be son, Bryson.  I am honored to have photographed them!  We had a fun photo morning playing around...she got a few shots of me in action, so I can't wait to see those!  ha!  5 minutes into the shoot I nearly stepped on a snake...it was quite action packed!  Here are two of my favorites...

2000!!!!

I have just settled in to write a post before I head up to Crystal Lake for the 4th of July, and I have discovered that the blog has just received it's 2000th visitor!  You all just made my day! Thank you so much for coming to see me.  I really appreciate it.  We are headed out of town for the next 2 weeks off and on.  I hope to blog, but you never know!  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday with your friends and families!  And, I will leave you with an excerpt from one of my favorite poems, Piglet's Song, by Benjamin Hoff:

"...Let's take the time and try to find,
what real life has to offer.
And maybe then we'll find again,
what we had long forgotten.
Like a friend, true 'til the end,
it will help us onward.

The Sun is high, the road is wide
and it starts where we are standing.
No one knows how far is goes,
for the road is never-ending..."

For Fun...

I just returned to the real world! We had a family reunion in Knoxville, TN up in the Smokey Mountains. It was beautiful, and my cell phone did not work. It was a nice break, but I arrived back to a mountain of emails and voice messages. I guess, in a way, that is a good thing! But, I wanted to share some cute pics from the weekend...I have so many, so that edit won't happen for a little while, but here are a couple!

I think this is one of my favorites. You all know Bella and Lola, frequent blog visitors and my nieces. I think it's true that when they are yours, they are the hardest pictures to get! Although they are not technically mine, it still holds true! This first one is an effort at their holiday card. There is Bella in a great pose, and then there is Lola refusing to be a part of it...and, then you have Fletcher, their cousin, very sad that he may not get to be in their card! This was as far as we made it before the storm came in, so I'm working on ideas to get Lola interested for when we visit them on Martha's Vineyard next week!

And, here is Nixon, Fletcher's sister. She and her brother are the life of any party and it was so fun seeing them running around and creating dances with their cousins, just like I use to do with mine!

Lola...the one I did get!

And, what a perfect way to end the night! The colors were incredible!
